First impressions are everything and it’s no different when you’re selling your home.
The knowledge that home staging increases a home’s sale price and reduces the time on market is nothing new. In fact, it seems even strange that a recent article by CBC presents this as news!
What is at least, current news, are many agents saying they now offer staging – either paying for it to be done by someone else or doing it in-house.
But like anything else in life, not all staging is equal. Even further, not all home sellers experiences with staging are equal.
Think of this way..let’s say someone needs a makeover.
Option 1 – Traditional Makeover
Take away their worn out clothes, tell them to cover their grey hairs and give them some money to go out and buy some new clothes. Have them call you when they’re done.
Option 2 – The Somewhat Evolved Makeover
Take away their worn out clothes, give them some hair colour to cover the grey, buy them some new clothes and get their nails done.
Option 3 – OUR Makeover
Determine their long term goals and what they hope to achieve with the makeover, do a complete assessment to see what they can and want to improve, review their entire wardrobe, help remove what doesn’t work, donate what can work for others, select a designer wardrobe based on what works best for them, create a look for every occasion, get a new cut and colour with our preferred stylist with whom we make the appointment, hook them up with a nutritionist and fitness consultant that we recommend (and also book the appointment) so they can feel their best both on the inside and outside and put together a calendar and plan with all of these steps and appointment dates with regular updates, managing the whole transformation until completion.
The evolution of what home owners can expect from their agent is progressing. We just believe in being at the other end right now 🙂
