If you’ve ever had the chance to do a major decluttering and organization of your home, you know how it feels. We’ve had clients actually cry in joy when they come home and see everything in it’s place once they’ve gone through the process and see how they can live in peace.
Organizational psychologists (yes, they exist) have noted the negative affect clutter and disorganization can have not only on you but on your marriage. They say issues with home organization can be a reflection of poor communication in your relationship!
We all have natural tendencies and preferences for a level of mess that is tolerable and functional – but when your level is different than your partners’, ongoing stuff and disorganization can build resentment and chip away at your partners happiness.
It can also lead to the daily frustrations that will drive you up the wall and not only bother yourself but your partner. Do the same silly arguments over misplaced keys sound familiar?!
